Those who munched on cookies with hosts at the Montgomery County History Center Saturday afternoon were in for a treat. The three “Scrooges” took their parts seriously. Well, sort of.
Before the Scrooge competitors got into costume, Heather Lancaster and Tyler Jennings covered the tables so children could decorate dozens of Christmas sugar cookies, thanks to Hy-Vee and Fareway Grocery Stores. Children could also listen to Roxanne Culver tell stories.
This year those, they would be judging cookies, with winners receiving $20 gift cards from Hy-Vee, Fareway and Hardware Hank.
The best traditional cookie winner was Red Oak Rehabilitation and Care Center which offers a popular weekly cooking class for residents provided by activity director Marcie Olson and her volunteer assistant Nancie Platt. Their entry is called Two Story Cookies.
